Capricorn and Aquarius Compatibility
“One of you is running the institution. The other one thinks it should not exist.”
Capricorn and Aquarius make a semisextile in the Western zodiac, scoring 46 out of 100. That is the tie between the two signs themselves, before anything else about either person is taken into account.
The Reading · Semisextile
Capricorn and Aquarius sit 30 degrees apart: a semisextile.
Capricorn and Aquarius are neighbours and the argument between them is old. Capricorn works within the structure, patiently, on the basis that structures are how anything lasts. Aquarius works against it, on the basis that most structures are simply the arrangement that happened to win. Saturn and Uranus share no element and no instinct, and each of you regards the other's stance as an obvious error: Capricorn thinks Aquarius is playing with things it has not had to maintain, and Aquarius thinks Capricorn is defending a system it did not choose and does not enjoy.
Both of you are entirely rational and neither takes an argument personally, so this can be a genuinely productive disagreement rather than a wounding one. Aquarius shows Capricorn that the rules it has been obeying are optional, which is occasionally the most useful thing anyone has ever told a Capricorn. Capricorn shows Aquarius what it would actually take to implement the idea, which is the step Aquarius skips. Neither of you needs much reassurance, so the pairing runs with very little maintenance.
Two fixed positions, held indefinitely, on subjects that matter. Capricorn wants the plan followed; Aquarius changes it on principle without consultation, and Capricorn experiences that not as spontaneity but as a breach of an agreement. Emotionally the house is cold: Capricorn expresses through duty, Aquarius through ideas, and neither offers plain warmth or notices that it is missing. Aquarius also disregards Capricorn's authority openly, which is the one thing Capricorn will not tolerate being done in public.
Air and earth: one of you wants the concept, the other wants the invoice. It works the moment the concept gets a deadline.
Cardinal meets fixed: one opens the door, the other holds it open. That is a genuine division of labour.
