Aries and Capricorn Compatibility
“Two people going hard at the same hill by routes that cannot both be taken.”
Aries and Capricorn make a square in the Western zodiac, scoring 44 out of 100. That is the tie between the two signs themselves, before anything else about either person is taken into account.
The Reading · Square
Aries and Capricorn sit 90 degrees apart: a square.
Aries and Capricorn are both built to lead and neither will be led, which is the entire shape of this. Aries goes at the thing directly and immediately, on the theory that speed solves most problems. Capricorn goes at it slowly and on a schedule, on the theory that nothing solves a problem except doing the work, and mentions none of the climbing while it happens. Mars and Saturn are the two hardest rulers in the set, and there is no softness anywhere in this pairing to cushion a disagreement. What you both recognise in each other is seriousness of intent. What neither of you can stand is the other's timing.
Nobody here mistakes ambition for a character defect, so a great deal goes without saying that other pairings have to negotiate. Capricorn will build the structure that makes an Aries idea survive contact with the world, and it will do it without needing thanks. Aries will make Capricorn move before the conditions are perfect, which is often the difference between a Capricorn plan and a Capricorn regret. Under pressure you are both durable, and neither of you is remotely tempted to give up.
Authority is the fight, and it never fully resolves. Capricorn assumes it is in charge because it has thought it through; Aries assumes it is in charge because it moved first. Capricorn's method with an unruly Aries is control, applied quietly, and Aries responds to control the way it responds to a wall. From the other side, Aries's impatience reads to Capricorn as a lack of seriousness, which is the single accusation an Aries will not forgive. Both of you would rather be right than close.
Fire and earth: one lights it, the other has to live on the scorched ground. Excellent once the fire agrees to a hearth.
Two cardinal signs: you both start things. Deciding who gets to start this one is the entire negotiation.
Aries and Capricorn in the Ancient Zodiac
A sun sign is half of a reading. Which of the twelve Ancient Zodiac signs each of these two actually carries depends on the year they were born, and the pairing below is where the reading gets specific.
